Fanuc error codes

Fanuc controls report faults as a numbered alarm on the screen — a servo, spindle, overtravel, program or system code. Below is the Fanuc alarm list from published manufacturer alarm documentation, with what each code means and the probable causes to check. If your code isn't listed, search it on the main lookup and the AI diagnosis will research it — or snap a photo of the control screen and let it read the alarm for you.

How to read a Fanuc alarm

  • SV / servo codes point at drives, motors, encoders and their wiring.
  • SP codes are spindle amplifier or spindle motor faults.
  • OT codes are overtravel — check axis position and limit switches before resetting.
  • PS / program codes come from the part program or parameters, not hardware.

Always confirm against the machine's own manual and follow lockout/tagout before working on live equipment.
